The Snip Trip Program was created to make spay/neuter surgery accessible to families in need in the Pioneer Valley. This program is run by Dakin’s dedicated volunteers and provides round trip pet transportation to and from our Community Spay/Neuter Clinic in Springfield.

Who is Eligible for Snip Trip?

Dakin’s Snip Trip Program is available to anyone living in Hampden, Hampshire, or Franklin Counties that does not have access to transportation or any person living with a disability that prohibits them from transporting their cat to the Community Spay/Neuter Clinic. Snip Trip is for cats only.

How it Works

Snip Trips are by appointment only.

To book a Snip Trip, email Spay@dakinhumane.org for the fastest response. You may also leave a message by calling (413) 781-4019. A Snip Trip volunteer will contact you as soon as possible to confirm your appointment and make transportation arrangements. Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and run approximately once per month.

Pet pick-up from your home will always be in the morning. Animals stay overnight after surgery and are discharged the following morning at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Program Fees

The base fee for round-trip transportation and surgery starts at $155.

Rabies and FVRCP vaccines are included in the price of surgery.

Other services can be added for additional fees, including:

Microchip $22
Feline Leukemia test $30
Nail trim $15
Deworming $15
Flea/ear mite treatment $15

All fees must be paid in cash only.

For the safety of your cat and our staff, we require that all adult cats be in individual plastic carriers at the time of pick-up with one cat per carrier. We are unable to transport cats that are not in individual plastic carriers.
